Giant Deers

The Giant Deer in their cube.

Giant Deer are Monsters in the Facility. They were not listed on the whiteboard, nor were they seen during the System Purge.

Physical Descriptions and Attributes[]

The Giant Deer, appear as ordinary looking deer, but of abnormal size, being much larger than humans and average deer.

Since the Giant Deer have no supernatural features, the reason for them being kept inside the Facility is unknown, but its likely they are there for being somehow hostile towards humans and other animals. Another possibility is that they suffer from some sort of virus like rabies that causes them to act out aggressively.

It is unknown what object summons them from the Cabin's Cellar, but fiddling with a pair of deer antlers or an unusually large deer skull could.

Appearances[]

The only time these Monsters are seen are during the scene when the camera pans-out to reveal the rest of the Monsters in the Facility. Their cube is directly to the left of the Giant's.

References[]

Deer would be a very logical choice as antagonists, given the cabin's location in the forest. Ordinary deer can also be vicious, especially during rutting season, and are quite capable of killing humans if provoked.

  • May draw from the Deer Woman in Native American mythology.
  • May draw from the antlered Celtic god Cernunnos.
  • The horror short story/movie The Quiet Boy/Antlers features monsters with antlers, but was published after this movie.
  • May have been inspired by the scene in The Ring 2 where a herd of deer viciously attack the main character's car.
  • May have been inspired by legends of early man's encounter with the Irish Elk , a massive deer that lived during the last Ice Age.
