Face Peeler is one of the Monsters kept in the Facility. He was not listed on the whiteboard, nor was he seen during the System Purge.

Physical Description & Attributes[]

The Face Peeler is a humanoid male, with rotting, pale skin that appears to have been torn and peeled off by himself, particularly around his cheeks, mouth and nose areas. The Face Peeler wears a dark, vintage-style (perhaps Victorian) coat and vest, with what looks like tan-colored slacks and dress shoes. His hair is short but is unkempt and messy This could indicate the Face Peeler is from a much older era, meaning he could possibly be one of the oldest monsters in the Facility, but this is not confirmed.

As his name implies, the Face Peeler kills his victims by extreme mutilation; ripping and peeling the skin of their faces and possibly their bodies off.

The Face Peeler bears no supernatural characteristics, meaning he could just be someone suffering from a severe mental illness that causes him to self mutilate and attack others.

It is unknown what item in the Cabin's cellar summons him, but if he does come from a different era, a trinket or some sort of device from that time could be what summons him.

Appearances[]

He is seen very briefly in his cube prison during the elevator scene and is briefly spotted on one of the monitors in the control room when Sitterson and Hadley are searching the cubes for Dana and Marty. These are the only times he is seen during the film. However, the Face Peeler was seen up close during the behind the scenes footage of the film.

Inspiration[]

It is unknown where the inspiration for this monster came from. Perhaps the creature is a reference to the body horror a genre of horror, which involves the horrific and gory deformation and deterioration of the body. It could also be a reference to Nightbreed where the character Narcisse rips off his face. It could also be a direct reference to the famous horror figure Leatherface[1], as he wears his victim's face skin on top of his own.

He could also be a homage to the face peeling scene in Poltergeist, or Hannibal Lecter from The Silence of The Lambs.
